Car Alarms: 98 subaru legacy outback OEM alarm, subaru legacy outback, valet mode

Question
I want to put my car into valet/service mode so i can still use the keyless entry, but not have car alarm.  The alarm randomly goes off when other people lock their cars, or if i manually use the lock/unlock button on the driver side door.  When i follow the instructions on this site to put the car into valet mode, it "chirps" three times, and locks the doors.  It never disables the alarm, it only seems to reset it.  Any suggestions as to whats going on or how to disable it?

Answer
Most but not all alarms respond the way
explained. On yours, you might need to locate
the manufacturer's web site, and get a copy of the
users manual to get the produre that yours
is designed to do. Try to identify what you have
by using the FCC ID# on the back of the remote.
Try www.keynfob.com, or www.keylessride.com
to search.

One thing though. You seem to be confused
here. If there is a valet switch, then the term
OEM (original manufacturers equipment) does not
apply. They do not have sirens, or valet switches.

If yours does, it's an after market piece.
If however, your car horn is going off,
headlights flashing, then it's probably
the factory (OEM) system.
On this system you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it.

You can disable it by doing the
following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
green/lt. blue |-| Located in the
drivers kick panel in the harness coming
out of the door jamb.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

You tell me which it turns out to be.

Have a good evening.
