Car Alarms: Prestige alarm messed up? car will not start, mazda mx 6, prestige alarm

Question
I have a 1996 Mazda Mx-6 that i just bought a month ago, when i bought it, it came with an aftermarket Prestige APS2K4 alarm system.  But the previous owner told me that the alarm did not work all the time.  You needed to disarm the car wait a few seconds then try to start it and keep repeating this step till you got it started.  Anyways I left my car battery unhooked for about a month and now the car does not start at all.  The alarm trick does not work.  I was able to start the car once 2 weeks ago but that is all.  I DESPERATELY NEED SOME HELP!!! Either to fix the problem or disarm/disconnect the alarm permanently.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.  THANKS :D

Answer
Power up the car, set off the alarm and while
it's engaged, try this:

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This solves the problem for now.

Then if you want to remove it, take it to a local
after market alarm Audiovox alarm
dealer and have it done there.

They may even be able to reset/reprog. the features on
the alarm you have, to allow you to use the system
more comfortably, but of course, your call.

Have a nice afternoon.
