Car Alarms: Forester alarm, alarmtek, subaru dealer

Question
QUESTION: We lost the key fob to my 2005 Forester Friday, and so I used my spare key without the fob. Yesterday, I locked the doors with the key, but when I went to unlock them the alarm went off and wouldn't let me start the car. I finally disconnected the hot side of the battery, and then tried to restart simultaneously as I reconnected, and the car did start, but the alarm kept cycling on. Pulling the horn fuse didn't silence it. Is there a disable button I can push, so I can get the car to a Subaru dealer? Or do I need to have it towed? Thanks.

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: Thanks for the response. It is a factory immobilizer system. Horn, lights, and security light flashing.

Answer
You will have to contact Subaru immediately for a new
key (s) or you will have these same issues regardless.

The ignition is not recognizing the spare as a
coded key, and the security is doing it's job.

Sorry, but it's doing what it was designed to do.

Have the VIN number and registration ready
to get the new keys done and it should
be relatively quick.

Sorry bout that. Not all the news is good.
