Car Alarms: 2000 Camry LE(with lojack) just wont sta, dash area, little spring

Question
I was babysitting my friends house for a month and never bothered to start the car until his arrival. Even though the car had a keyless, I tried to open the car using the key on the drivers side and the alarm went off. I tried pressing all the buttons on the keyless and didnt work. So, I shut the door and locked the car...alarm stopped. One thing surprises me...I managed to get in without sounding the alarm using the same technique as above and put the key in the ignition and there was not even a hint of crank which suggests based on reading on this site, ignition is immobilized...I do see a LEd blinking once inside the car...

The car has a keyless entry with lojack installed...what I cannot understand is why shd the alarm go off when I tried to use the key...apparently, my friend has never used the drivers side to open the door using the key...is there anyway I can help him to just start the car without havinv to tow it to the dealer..any help appreciated.

I have read the valet way of trying to deactivate the alarm and asked my friend(who has returned) and is giving it a try...should the car be set to the cranking position before pressing the valet override button? or simply be in the state just before starting the car when the button needs to be pressed?

Answer
Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This should reset the alarm.
But the trouble will persist unless you can
get it in to a shop to explain just why
it does this. The Lojack has nothing to do with the
alarm. It's independent, so I do suggest your friend
get's over to a shop to see what's what.

Let me know if this helped.
