Car Alarms: subaru Forester 98 alarm system, subaru forester, overide

Question
When I went out the other day my battery was dead.  When i went to charge it with a charger, the alarm went off (I never use the alarm because the key doesn't work consistently.)  It kept going off every time we tried to charge it.  Using the key shut off did no stop it.  I am figuring that while my car was parked the alarm systen shorted and that is what killed my battery (I was at work most likely and did not hear it going off.)  I would like to disconnect the alarm system so I can put in another battery and not have it drain.  Any help for how to do that?  thanks

Answer
I strongly suggest you get the wiring chart
for this car at www.mywires.com
and retrofit the alarm wire by wire, repairing
the exposed or cut wiring as you go.

It's the safest way, and restores the integrity
of the vehicle's original design and function.

Look at the last posts on Valet as well to put
it into overide for now, but your really should
pull it if not helpfull or it's malfunctioning.

Good luck.
