Car Alarms: Audiovox APS-785, starter wire, high humidity

Question
QUESTION: The alarm system in my car goes beserk when it rains heavily. The starting system is disabled, I can hear the CD player cycling, and the system does not respond to the remote.
I have tried to disable it by cutting the ground wire to the alarm system, but the  problem persists - even with the ground wire cut (although I have lost all remote functions).
If I disconnect the battery the system usually seems to reset, and I am then able to start the car. At first I thought it was a grounding problem caused by high humidity, but disconnecting the battery should not affect a faulty ground - is it likely to be a fault in the module itself?
Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Hard to say at a distance.
Unplug and remove the APS and then monitor
what's happening. if it's the alarm, you'll see
that. If not, then you can move onto other
devices and wiring.

Best way to start to determine the culprit.

Let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: Thank you for your prompt response.
Do you mean remove all the multi-pin plugs from the control module? Will I be able to start and drive the car with the module disconnected?
Thanks again.

Answer
Not if starter kill was installed no.
But it will stop sounding and going "beserk"
until you can see what's what.

If it has starter kill, you'd need to remove
the relay inline, and repair the starter wire.

I'd suggest contacting your installer for assistance
with that.
