Car Alarms: horn upon locking, deterent, silent mode

Do you think the horn beep that goes with locking enhances security or safety in anyway?  Is it difficult to disable?

Answer
It does show anyone within earshot
that the car has "something" in it.
So yeah, as far as a audible deterent,
it has value.

Turning it on and off depends on the
system your using. To see how to toggle
in and out of silent mode on yours,
check the manual that came with it.

There are many ways manufacturers
have to allow end users to set it for themselves,
so there's no way to tell about your specific system
without the manual for it.
