Car Alarms: alarms, acura tl, dash area

Question
QUESTION: My car alarm became activated last night while I was sleeping. There are no signs of fowl play on the car. What would actually set it off? Will pulling on the door handles trigger it? Can you explain what might have happened if in fact their was no one around? Will viberation cause it?
My Car is  a 2000 Acura TL.

Thanks,
Charlie

ANSWER: Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know,
and I can go from there.

QUESTION: headlights flashing and horn honking.

Answer
No vibration would not be the culprit here if it's
a factory system. There seems to be an open
circuit being detected in the car when it
triggers. Could be due to an open door/trunk
light, to something drawing power in the cig battery.

Best bet?

Go around the vehicle making sure all power draining
sources are off, then monitor the car. If it
still goes off, I would run it up to Acura
and ask for an inspection of the factory system.

May need a system reset.

Let me know what you discover. Interesting.
