Car Alarms: 2001 nissan altima - alarm goes off after doors are locked, nissan altima, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a factory installed alarm system on my 2001 nissan altima gxe.  I just had my plugs, distributor cap, and fuel filter replaced today.  I then drove home, got out and locked the doors with the remote key fob as I've done for the past 5 years.  But this time, the alarm went off about 30 seconds to a minute after I locked the door.  I thought it was a fluke, so I went back, unlocked the car, locked it again using the key instead.  Walked away, and the same thing happened.  For some reason, my alarm is going off whenever I lock the doors, no matter what method I use.  This alarm has never been particularly sensitive (ie, never went off just from someone bumping up against the car, etc.) so it seems like something had to have happened when the work was done today.  It was a relative that did the work and I was there the whole time, so nothing out of the ordinary was done.  I've even taken the anti-theft fuse out but the alarm still goes off!  How is that possible unless it is pulling power from another source?  I do see that I have an anti-theft relay in a box that's separate from my regular fuse box, but I'm unable to remove it.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  For now, I am reduced to removing the battery cables in order to lock my car without driving my neighbors crazy, and I just don't see that working out as an indefinite solution.  Thanks!

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: As I mentioned, it is a factor installed alarm.  I get the horn honking and headlights flashing, but there is no "SECURITY" flashing in the dash.  I don't believe that feature is a part of my system.  Thanks.

Answer
Well, the trouble could need to be reset
at the dealership as a service call,
or you can disable it yourself.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
green/yellow |-| at the smart entrance control,
Located to the right of the steering column.
It is black or blue in color.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
