Car Alarms: Lock button sets the alarm off extra loud and long, gm saturn, 2000 saturn sl2

Question
We have a 2000 Saturn SL2.  When we try to lock the doors with the remote that came with the car to set the alarm, the horn honks extra loud and extra long.  It used to just go "beep" but now it goes HOOONK HOOONK HOOONK...and keeps going until I unlock the door and start up the car again.  When you press the unlock button, the headlights start blinking and also won't stop until I start up the car again.  We thought it might be the battery in the remote and replaced them, but it is still doing it.  We just can't figure it out.  Please help, it's driving us...and our neighbors crazy.

Answer
There is a conflict between and aftermarket alarm (your remote) and the factory system.

GM / Saturn will need to reset the alarm,
of have an alarm installer locate
the PINK YELLOW/BLACK wire in the drivers
door jamb, and do a (-) bypass from the aftermarket
system.

Those are the options according to what I
am getting from your explaination.

Show this to the dealership and see what they advise.
