Question
QUESTION: Recently I went out to my car to start it and it wouldn't start. I changed the battery and everything only to realize that the "security" light for the alarm keeps blinking. I figure that this is my problem. The alarm won't let the car start. I tried taking it to the dealer they $700 and can't even guarantee me that they can fix it. What can I do?

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: The car will not start at all. In the dash the "SECURITY" light keeps flashing. There is no headlights flashing or horn honking though.

Answer
Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

If this does not apply, you trouble is
PASSLOCK related. GM will need to evaluate.

Good luck.
