Car Alarms: my alarm goes off all the time for no reason at all on my 1997 lincoln continental, lighting module, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I was wondering if there was any other way to disarm the alarm permanently  but i wish not to go through my door panel as i am not inclined to do such work as i had tried this and there is all kinds of stuff to take apart to remove the door panel.  thanks alot

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: This is a factory alarm. My horn will blow,my headlights flash, and  yes there is a green anti theft led light that blinks on dash cluster
when alarm is going..I think i am having a problem because my manual says when i turn on the alarm by pressing the lock door button on remote the green led light should stay lit for
for 30 seconds and then go out when it is armed.Well this light just goes out when armed.Yesterday my alarm went off every 10 seconds or more and finally pulled a fuse and put it back in and now today i had no problem with it.I would like to either fix problem myself or even take the alarm out completely.

Answer
Ok, normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dk. green/purple |- |at the SCIL module,
The SCIL (steering column / ignition / lighting module)
is located in the passenger kick panel to the right
side of the glove box.  The module
is in a silver vented steel box.
The wires exit out the back of the module,
some heading upwards and some heading downwards.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
