ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.
Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

QUESTION: well the car does honk and it also has the red secutrity light flashing but when i turn the switch, nothing happens at all.
AnswerNormally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it.
The trouble with this one is that
the alarm arms when the doors are physically locked,
and disarmed when unlocked. Your car's
drivers door key switch tumbler may have trouble
getting a decent signal from just the key motion.
Possibly due to the factors of age, weather,
ware & usage etc...
If you do not have a remote keyless entry for it,
I'd suggest putting in an after market system
for 50. and make certain it gets enough (-)
pulse to trip the alarm on and off EVERY TIME.
You can also of course take it in to the local
dealer for service at this point for best
evaluation.
