Car Alarms: Remote Start Burn-out?, viper alarm system, 12 volt

Good evening!
I have a 1999 Chry Sebring with an automatic start that is part of my Viper alarm system that came with the car.  I have had to replace the battery cable 3 times within the last 12 months.  At this last instance, my mechanic and I finally realized that it had something to do with the remote start.  My question is this:  Do you think that it has to do with the remote start? Also, Do you think that removing the that particular wire will resolve my problem?
