Car Alarms: CAR ALARM - 2000 Dodge Avenger, dodge avenger, car alarm

Question
The problem I have is when I unlock my car (with my key, I don't have the remote) the alarm goes off (factory alarm), in the past I could turn off the alarm by inserting my key in the driver's side door and it would disable, but now for some reason it only disables from the passenger side door. I'm not quite sure why this is happening but I think it might be between the following two things: 1. I just had the outside driver's door handle replaced (Avenger's are horrible about that). 2. I just installed a new battery.  I'm not sure if the alarm is messing up because of either of these two things or another problem, do you have any ideas of what could be the problem and maybe what I can do about it (like totally disabling it)?  I really don't feel like unlocking my door from the passenger side every time I have to get in!

Answer
The trouble now is that when you replaced the
handle, that affected the alarm. The factory alarm
depends on the locking and unlocking of the doors.
After they replaced the handle this action stopped.
It appears to be installed inadequately.

My take here is to have them go over that "repair"
cause they missed a wire or connector.

It's either that, or you could add a keyless
entry/alarm to the car and emulating the (-)
pulse that the key used to provide, thus
solving this issue.

I have Just the thing for under 50 bucks
if interested.

But if not, I'd take it ot the repair guy again
to warranty his work.
