Car Alarms: Cadillac car alarm, cadillac car, turning the key

I have a '91 Fleetwood Brougham...it wasn't driven for a few weeks, and the battery went dead...tried to charge the battery with a charger, and jump start with another car...both times the alarm goes off and prevents the car from starting...turning the key in the door does not disarm...also, it has a toggle switch under the dash that I was told by the previous owner somehow controlled the alarm...could you explain?...thanks...

It's after market George.

Try key on, flip the switch in the other direction,
then key off. This should reset the alarm system.

Just repete the steps to go into armed mode again if
you wish. But without remotes, I'd then take it
out and put in one that controls all.
