Car Alarms: reset viper, exact model number, ford van

i own a 1998 ford van,with after market viper,van sat all winter,battery had died.replaced with new battery but van only starts in auto start or when i depress unlocked button and turn key. need to know how to reset,need to sell veh.

This sounds as if the system is working normally and you have the passive arming turned on.  If you take a look under the dash where the system is installed and get me the exact model number of the unit (it will be on the brain of the alarm itself, not the remote) I will see what I can do about locating the manuals for your system which will explain how to disable the automatic arming.
