Car Alarms: 1998 Grand Cherokee RKE, rke system, jeep dealership

Question
For years I've avoided using the RKE system to lock and unlock my car.  I'm old fashion and hate clicking.  Recently, I bumped a button under the dash and now the car is making me use the RKE to start the car.  I can I avoid using the clicker and just use the key. I really apprecite your help!!!

Answer
No, not to my knowledge. If interested in keeping it,
I would contact the Jeep dealership though since
my expertise is after market interfacing, not
OEM and you need the info for OEM-Factory.

Call the service department for that answer.

That being said, to simply remove the
system from ever arming, you can disable
it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
purple/yellow |-|in the drivers door harness.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would
be exceedingly easy to steel, so I suggest
you get an aftermarket alarm system to
protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
