Car Alarms: electrical problems, chrysler cirrus lxi, chrysler cirrus

Question
I have a '96 Chrysler Cirrus LXI that started sounding the factory horn alarm for no apparent reason. Also, since the bought the car used a couple years ago, it chimes and interior light comes on, dash light says doors not closed. Even though the doors are closed. Starting to drive me nuts. Any help in disarming the alarm, and finding a solution to the 'door not closed' warning would be helpful.
Thanks.

Answer
This one is tricky. The Cirrus is a difficult vehicle
to work on and it can be expensive. If it's an aftermarket
alarm, look at the last few posts to get valet overide
info, and apply.

If it's factory, then it's going to be a surgical
application using relays and resistors. Dodge/Chrysler
is the best place for this, or a good stereo/car alarm
shop.

Here's how to tell one from the other:

HEADLIGHT FLASHING & CAR HORN HONKING
AND THE WORD "SECURITY" OR ANTI-THEFT
IN THE DASH=factory (OEM) alarm
or,
SIREN BLARRING AND PARKING LIGHTS FLASHING WITH
AN LED FLASHING IN THE DASH=AFTER MARKET.

Just hope it's the former, not the latter here
for your wallets sake. Wish I could offer you
some good news here, but blame Chrysler for
this one!

I hope this helps you.
