Car Alarms: 97 Buick Lesabre - Factory alarm goes off for no reason, alarmtek, buick lesabre

Question
QUESTION: No modifications have been made to this vehicle but over the past year the factory alarm will go off 2-4 times a week for no reason whatsoever.  What steps do I need to take to remedy this problem.  I would also be interested in knowing how to permanently disable the alarm to avoid more hassles especially in the middle of the night.
ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: Hi -

Thanks for your prompty reply...

No aftermarket alarm system has ever been installed since purchased new.  The horn honks and the parking lights flash all around when the alarm activates by itself (seems haunted).  I have taken the battery out of the key fob last week to eliminate possible problems coming form that device and the problem still persists.  The SECURITY light does flash when alarm goes off.  Also, whenever we start and drive the car, the security light in the dash will stay on for quite some time, 15-40 minutes most of the time.  However, we never had a problem starting the vehicle.

Answer
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt. green |-|in either door jamb.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
