Car Alarms: 1997 Lincoln Continental Alarm Problem, lincoln dealer, lincoln continental

Question
My factory-installed alarm goes off at random times when it's parked on the street, for no apparent reason. As a temporary fix, I leave the driver's side door unlocked, and that seems to solve the problem.

I don't really need an alarm, and would like to simply disable it.  But I spoke to a couple of Lincoln dealer service departments, who told me it's impossible to disconnect the alarm system.

What do you think?

As a final note, someone on another board offered this suggested fix, which I have not tried to implement yet.  Would appreciate your take on the soundness of this advice.  Thanks for your help!

Suggested fix:

There is a disarm wire dark green and purple in the drivers door harness [goes to the keyless module] Get a relay and do this pin 85 ground, pin 86 to the +12v lock wire pink/yellow, pin 30 to ground, and pin 87 to the disarm wire. Now when the door locks it will send a ground pulse to the disarm wire of the alarm, disarming the factory alarm while the car remains locked. it sounds like a pain, but is really quite easy, just remove the door panel on the driver side and the module is right there...

Answer
Follow his advice with the relay.
If you simply want to terminate the factory alarm,
splice into the dark green/purple with a simular
guage wire, and ground it to the chassis.

Then it won't ever arm again.

Good luck with it.
