Car Alarms: 94 nissan altima, exact model number, replacement transmitters

Question
I purchased a 1994 Nissan altima last week with out the alarm remote.
It was working fine, but on Saturday it decided not to start. We
figured it was the alarm and after 30 minutes of playing with the
alarm on/off switch .....it finally the car finally started. Now it is
doing it again. Is there a way to reset the alarm without the
remote...or just totally disarm the alarm for good?

Answer
Turning the key to the run position and flipping that switch should cause the alarm to go into valet mode.  Valet mode will disable all security features of the system and should allow you to start the vehicle.  If you want to disable the alarm, simply pulling the fuses that supply it should turn it off.  To find the fuses take down the interior panels under the steering column and trace back the wires that were tapped in for the alarm, there should be some inline fuse holders and removing these fuses should turn the system off for you.  While you are there I would look at the brain of the system and get the exact model number for it then look for replacement transmitters to get the system fully operational again.
