Car Alarms: Aftermarket Smart Key System, factory models, voice chip

Question
I am looking a car alarm systes that locks & unlocks when you are within a cetain range of the vehicle and not by pressing a button. I know these exist on various higher end factory models. Have they hit the aftermarket yet? If so, what are they called and where can they be found? Do they also come with remote start features, or any other programmable assign-specific features?

Answer
These are referred to as "proximity rf" type systems.
They do make them. Most however are designed to unlock
the door & lock when the card or keychain remote
is out of range. They also alow for engine start with
push button access instead of a key.

However, they all pretty much blow right now.
These false badly, and to date, are unimpressive,
performance wise. Half the time, they fail 3 months
out and need to be reprogrammed.

Also all well and good until the access remote or
card is lost, damaged, or stolen. I don't like the
odds on that just yet, and the aftermarket devices
are really not up to snuff for me. Kinda picky here.

I'd wait for the technolody to get better on that
for now. Maybe another 2-3 years, so it's voice
recognition locking and unlocking, remote start,
etc... Like cell phones use now. The Voice chip
needs to be better though.

You can however use exsisting technology
with your cell phone to do this as well.

I hope this helps a bit.
