Car Alarms: SECURITY SYSTEM LOCKED, 1996 chevy lumina, car alarm installation

I HAVE A 1996 CHEVY LUMINA WHICH IS LOCKED IN SECURITY MODE.THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM DOES NOT HAVE THE MANUAL SO I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RESET.SOME PEOPLE SAY TURN THE SWITCH ON AND LEAVE IT ON UNTIL THE LIGHT STOPS BLINKING.IS THIS CORRECT?IS THERE A SWITCH UNDER THE DASH?

Nope sorry, not the GM tech here. My expertise is
in the application of after market systems
into Japanese and Korean vehicle platforms.
