Car Alarms: toyota avalon remote car alarm, keyless entry system, toyota avalon

Question
QUESTION: My mom lost one of her remote car alarm and door opener.  This car is 8 years old and I was wondering if there is a an easy way to dismantle the system so that we no longer need to use the remote to enter and leave the vehicle.
ANSWER: You should not have to dismantle the system to get in and out of the car.  If you are looking for a new key less entry system there are a lot of options if you want to do it yourself.  You can also take the car to any stereo shop and have a new keyless entry system installed for around $150 that would include 2 new remotes.  You should also be able to just use the key in the door if you do not want to spend any money.  There should be no need to dismantle any of the factory equipment.

QUESTION: If she uses the key alone, the alarm goes off.  Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

Answer
According to DEI the factory alarm on a 99 Avalon arms and disarms with lock and unlock.  If you unlock that door and it does not disarm I would think that either this is not a factory system or the system has a problem of some kind.  The alarm does disarm when you insert the key into the ignition?  The alarm/keyless is part of a module in the vehicle that I believe is not removable.  I would strongly suggest getting a new aftermarket keyless unit installed or taking it to a dealer for a new remote.
