Car Alarms: 92 Toyota Camry SE Factory Alarm, toyota camry, dash area

Hello,
I wanted to know how to disable my factory alarm for my car. If I open the door and dont insert the key immediately, then the alarm sounds off or if I leave the door open too long I get the same result. I want to keep my alarm, but change the settings so that I can open the door and not insert the key, and not have the alarm sound.

Sorry to disagree with you,
but your's is aftermarket. This car did not
come equipped with a factory alarm system maam.

As far as feature settings, that you would need
to identify the system you have to start with,
Then aquire the manual for it.

assist with that but could be pricey.

In the meantime, try this...

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm.
You would repeat the steps to go back to
servicable/armed mode.

If it does'nt work out this way,
then I suggest you remove the system
and replace it with one that WORKS for you,
not against you.
