Car Alarms: 98 Sienna, toyota dealer, electrical systems

While on a trip, my alarm was activated while I was inside the car. The remote was so corroded that I couldn't disarm it and couldn't start the car either. I got the vehicle towed to a Toyota dealer and they disconnected the alarm system entirely. Now, however, many electrical systems (door locks, interior clock, dome lights, etc.) are ignition controlled. Any idea what they did and how I can use my door locks w/o turning on the ignition?
