Car Alarms: 2003 Honda Pilot Alarm Problem, honda pilot, dash area

Question
QUESTION: Hi-I purchased a brand new 2003 Honda Pilot which has a factory alarm.  Yesterday when I went to press the button to unlock and disarm my alarm, the doors were not opening.  After several times, I decided to put the key in the door (without opening the door) and then lock using the remote.  The doors locked, however my security light was not flashing to show the alarm was set, nor did the horn honk like it should when it's set.  I finally got into my car and immediately changed the remote once I got home; thinking it was the battery in the remote.  Unfortunately, the problem was still happening.  There were several times throughout the night that I tried using my remote and sometimes it worked and other times it did not (guess it was being stubborn).  Do you have any thoughts what the problem may be?  Thank you.
ANSWER: Question?
Is it the car's horn and headlights when you use the "factory" remote, or
parking lights and a siren, with an LED in the dash area
flashing?

QUESTION: When I press the button to my remote, my horn honks, doors lock and security light on top of door turns red (do not believe lights flash).

Answer
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it.

Here's the bad news.

Unfortunately, this won't reset correctly if
simply using the door key, and the alarm will
contiue to be armed. Also from the sounds of it,
the remote you have is not doing the the resetting
fully.

A problem. Best solution? Run up to Honda, tell them
the trouble, and ask them to reset the diagnostic code
for the factory alarm you have.

Should be under warranty, but won't be expensive
either way to do that.

They sould be able to solve it quickly for you.
