Car Alarms: Factory 91 Celica alarm and keyless entry, electronic control unit, problematic system

Question
Thank you for doing this... I just bought this car and I am at my wit's end. When using the remote or the driver's side door switch to lock my car, the driver's door would partially lock and I would hear a buzzing sound from inside the door.  I opened the skin of the door and attempted to adjust the arm to the lock to no avail. Under the driver's seat, I located the electronic control unit for the security system (Fujitsu Ten Limited) and it appears to be connected properly.  Now, after reassembling everything (so I could do more research) although the system will alarm and I can lock the car manually, the remote and door switch no longer respond... What have I done to my already problematic system?

Answer
It sounds as if the drivers side door lock motor is
either about to go, or has. As this is a 16 year old car,
my guess is that the fatigue factor is in play here.

My best suggestion is to go to the local
parts store, get a new door lock motor assembly,
and have it put in. Then If that is fine and it's still
malfunctiong, we look at the switch.

Lastly, the alarm should not be relied on until the door
lock is right. It won't be working correctly until
you work out the motor.

1 thing at a time. Do the door motor, then let me know
what you discover afterwards.

Good luck with it.
