Car Alarms: 93 ford explorer car alarm issue, purple wire, ring terminal

Question
QUESTION: we have a 93 ford explorer, the alarm keeps going off and would not let us start it. Now we have found the green/purple wire in the door and spliced into it as other emails have stated to do... now we can start it but the alarm will still go off for no reason. Any ideas on what to do now?
thank you
ANSWER: Ground that green/purple you mention permanently.  With that grounded the alarm should never arm.  You could also take it to a dealer and they could replace the antitheft module but I think this would be a very expensive option.

QUESTION: How do we ground it permanently?

Answer
If you are not comfortable with this, I would recommend taking it to a local install shop for them to do it.

To ground it permanently you would simply strip back some of the insulation on that wire, solder on a length of wire and put the other end of the added wire through a ring terminal to a paint and primer free piece of metal in the kick panel.  You may have to ground it through a switch if your interior light stays on or some other unforeseen consequence of permanently grounding that wire.
