Car Alarms: 1998 Nissan Altima GXE Alarm also going off randomly, nissan altima gxe, nissan altima

Question
I am having the same issue as the previous question.  I bought the car used several years ago and it did not have the handheld controller for the alarm.  By going off, I mean that the lights are flashing, horn is honking and Anti-Theft is on the dash.  The alarm sounds about every 30 minutes and only cuts off when I unlock the car door.

Answer
Well Ms. C,
If it's the same issue, then the fix is the same too.
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
green/yellow |-|smart entrance control,
located to the right of the steering column.
It is black or blue in color. This does
mean someone needs to drop the underpanel
from the steering colum area to do the work.

Once Located, splice into the wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

If yours is aftermarket with the PARKING LIGHTS and
and a siren however, then it's a valet overide
switch you need to find, to get out of this issue.

But from the sounds of it, you are dealling with
Nissan's OEM system.

I hope this works out for ya.
