Car Alarms: Transmitter problem?, little melody, murph

I came across your website as I searched the web for a number to call Viper directly about my problem.  Alarm system is working fine, auto start and everything.  The problem is the transmitter.  It plays a little melody when you instal a new battery.  Well for the last week it has been playing this melody randomly. Sometimes every few seconds to every few minutes to every few hours.  Does this mean I need a new transmitter?  If so, where should I get it?
