Question
i just got a 96 sebring convertible, today i went to get into it to go to work and it started honking at me. the interior lights flash im not sure about the headlights and a small red light in the gauge cluster flashes. when the horn stops the light continues to flash. i tried to start the car when the alarm was going off it started but shut off 5 seconds later.after the horn stopped i tried to start it again but then the horn started up again. is it a security system thats going off? how do i stop it so that i can drive my car again?

Answer
Well, normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt green/orange *2  |+ positive|
in the drivers kick panel above hood release.
The factory alarm disarm requires a positive
trigger with a 470 ohm resistor wired in series.

Once Located, You will need a relay to provide
a positive pulse, then the alarm will never
arm and put you in a bad position again.

Print this out, and take it to a local tech
if unsure.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
