Car Alarms: disengage security system on Impala, lincoln aviator, blinking red light

Question
1. The security system on our 2000 Impala is so sensitive, it goes off when you barely brush up against it. How can we turn it off?
2. We bought a used 2004 Lincoln Aviator which has a blinking red light on the dash near the windshield, though no alarm has ever gone off.  How do we activate the alarm?
Thanks.

Answer
On the Impala, try to locate the shock sensor
that was installed, in it there is a set wheel,
that regulates the sensetivity. You would
turn counter clock wise to turn it down, or off.

This devices is usually a smallish box with 2 blinking
LED lights. one red and one green.

Once done, you'll be happier because vibration
sensors are the chief cause of alarm faulsing.

Yours is obviously set too high.

Now, on the Aviator. That light is a daylight sensor
and part of the Mercury's factory alarm system.
That one can't be changed, sorry.

Good luck.
