Car Alarms: 1993 Acura Legend Factory Alarm wont shut off, acura legend, dash area

Question
QUESTION: Hey I Recently got my Acura Legend 1993 back from the shop and it was working all fine..until one day i locked the car and came back to get in..when i got in..the alarm went off and wouldn't disarm for anything imaginable.. tried for about 10 mins and nothing doing...it finally shut off by its self and when i go to get in again it goes off.. taking out the battery wont work...nothing works.. you are my last hope with this...
ANSWER: The alarm seems to be in long tamper mode.
You will need to reset, and possibly
re program the remotes. That part you will need
your manual for, but the aftermarket alarm
seems to be doing it's job.
At least we know it's installed correctly
which is actually a good thing here.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect. Don't want to
get stuck in another bad situation.

Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: Ok Wow Thanxx You guys reply Really quick..but The Main Problem is that i don't have an aftermarket alarm.. i just have the factory acura alarm..that works directly with the brain(my computer ) in the car i believe..i could be mistaken..and nothing i do seems to disarm this alarm..the original way of disarming would be to put the key in one of de doors and turn it and unlock the vehicle but nothing works
ANSWER: Ok, but if you do not have the factory remote,
there is nothing we can do to disarm it.
This is the only way I know
of to disable the OEM headlighs and
car horn honking system.

If yours is an LED in the dash, flashing parking lights and a siren,
this it is indeed an aftermarket system,
and you should attempt the course of action
in the last letter.

If not, then you will need to contact Acura, get a key
fob-remote made for it so that you can toggle in and
out of arming.

let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: Ok I tried some of the above-mentioned stuff but hey..those old acuras and Hondas don't they usually come with a fuse for the alarm, if the fuse is taken out then would de alarm not arm?..or is there not a way you could just take the alarm module out by unplugging it? or something??

Answer
This is an aftermarket alarm, so you will need to
remove the underpanel beneith the steering colum,
and the metal knee bolster plate (10mm ratchet
required) and then loctate the brain box of the
system. Once found, unplug the main harness,
find the relay inline on the starter wire
(black/white at the ignition switch), cut it out
of line, and re attatch the 2 ends of the starter
wire so that it's in "pre installed" condition.

This will get you going again. You will of course
also loose the keyless entry if it was installed
as well. But once the starter wire is repaired,
you can replug the system and try again to use it.

If it was a factory alarm, there would be a security
module yes, but unpluging it would probably cause
more outages then solve the ones you have now.

Luck with it.
