Car Alarms: how to disarm a 95 diamante factory alarm?, silver dots, dash area

Question
QUESTION: After having some work done on my 95 diamante [timing belt, etc] the factory installed alarm is now going off at random -- and very inconvenient -- times.  Chilton's doesn't have anything at all about how to disarm the factory alarm.  Any advice?  Thanks!
ANSWER: Alrighty, when done, go into
the local Mitubishi dealer and
show um how it's done!

Locate the brown/red with silver dots |-|,
in the passenger kick panel area.
Splice into it with a same guage wire,
then put this wire to a solid chassis ground.

This terminates the FACTORY (OEM) alarm.
Anything else with a siren, flashing parking lights,
(not car horn, not headlights flashing!) is aftermarket.
If this is the case, try this:

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect. Don't want to
get stuck in another bad situation.

Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: Thanks for your help.  I removed the glove box and plastic panel under it (I assume that's the passenger side kick panel area you mentioned?).  I untaped a bundle of about 40 wires under where your toes would be if your heels were on the floor board and your toes were at the top of the mat.  I found a very thin red/grayish wire with silver marks/dots.  That's the only wire I saw with any marks or dots.  I grounded it and alarm still functioned.  I even ran heavy duty jumper cables to ground at battery to ensure good ground was achieved.  Am I looking in the right place?  Is the wire dark brown?  Would it be alone or bundled with other wires? The alarm on my car is definitely factory alarm [just horn and headlights], so the rest of your email instructions don't apply.  You said "locate the brown/red with silver dots |-|".  I assume you mean wire?  Also, I am not sure what |-| means.  When you said "terminates" the factory [oem] alarm, does that mean permanent disconnect or disables as long as wire is mainteaned to ground?  Either way is fine with me.  I've owned the car since it was a year old and have never had keyless entry or any chirp sounds.  Thanks again for your help.

Answer
[-]This means negative trigger. And yes "terminates"
does mean until the ground is lifted.

Let's try this then. Inside the drivers door,
you will find a brown/red wire. Strip some vinyl
off, splice a simular gauge wire to it, then
ground. That should also disable the factory alarm
functions until undone.

Let me know
