Cannot seem to find any instructions on reprogramming an Audiovox Prestige ARS686T remote car starter...Battery died in vehicle, changed battery and doors will lock and unlock but vehicle tries to start and it is like it is not getting any fuel, just cranks a few times and quits....any help will be appreciated....

What is the exact make and model of the vehicle as well as the make and model of the bypass used?  Some bypasses need to be reprogrammed any time the vehicle battery is replaced.  For example a GMBP requires moving a jumper, starting the vehicle with a key, then moving the jumper back.

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup, AUdiovox Prestige model APS686T

OK, the 2000 GM Trucks use GM's Passlock II antitheft system.  This system incorporates a resistor in the ignition cylinder that when the key is turned sends information to the computer.  The computer needs to see the correct resistance to allow the vehicle to start (it does indeed kill fuel supply as you described).  What you would need to do is find the make and model of the bypass used, not the remote start system itself.  This may require taking down the dash panel under the steering column and finding the module.  Once you find the module, post the make and model here and I will see what I can do about locating an installation manual for it.  The installation manual will cover how to program the module to the vehicle.

OK, Good job!  That is exactly what I was referring to.  That is the Omega branded version of the GMBP from Bypasskit.com (or at least that is my best guess from what this page describes: http://www.bypasskit.com/affiliate/index.aspx?sid=281928319&l=omega&s=W ).

Head to this page: http://bypasskit.com/Manuals/GMBP_H1S1D5_I_EN.PDF and take a look at the chart in "Install 1".  Take a look at your bypass and you should see the jumpers shown there.  Unplug the bypass and take the jumper from where it is (figure B) put it to where figure A shows, plug the bypass back in, start the truck with the key, wait for the LED to flash, turn the truck off, then replace it to the figure B position.  Let me know if this works out.  As I said I believe this is the correct bypass, if it is not I will do some more searching for you.

Everything I am reading is telling me that the bypass is definitely a GMBP, labeled differently as an Omega piece (this is common). Did you read through the programming instructions in the link for the GMBP?  Follow these to the letter, each step is very important.  Pull the white plug from the bypass, change the position of the jumper to the exact location listed, replug in the harness, start the truck with the key and wait for the LED to blink 4 times.  Remove the jumper and put it back to operating position.  I have never seen a GMBP go bad.

That is odd.  Once you disconnect power from it (pulling the plug) it should do a reset.  This is why it lost programming when you changed your vehicle battery.  Plugging it back in with the jumper in the programming position and then starting it with the key should reprogram the unit, putting the jumper back in the run position should hold the programming until the bypass is unplugged again or the vehicle battery is disconnected again.  You are correct that it seems like it has no fuel, that is how the Passlock II system operates.  Does the LED blink 4 times when you try to reprogram?
ANSWER: You are then shutting off the vehicle, returning the jumper to the run position and attempting to remote start without unplugging the power from the module correct?  I would suggest trying something to verify that the unit knows it is supposed to be operating.  Strip back a small amount of sheathing on the brown wire going into the bypass.  This wire needs to see ground only when the remote start is activating.  Tie a wire onto the brown and hold it to ground right before you attempt to remote start the truck.  Do not disconnect the plug from the bypass or you will have to reprogram the unit again.  If your truck starts successfully then we know the bypass is working and the remote start is not sending the correct negative to the bypass.

QUESTION: Interesting devolopment, Myself and 4 of the guys I work with were looking at truck on Friday, checking anything we could check, trying anything we could think of....UPS driver came in and asked us what was going on and we told him what we were attemping to do...he went inside my truck found a small push button type switch, hidden up under the dash, put my key in ignition and turned to the run position, pushed switch and hit remote start button, turned ignition switch off, hit remote and thing started up!  Told me he has had the same trouble in the past and found out how to do this on the internet somewhere, but anyhow, vehicle has started everytime since then..Did not know or even think about something like this!....hopefully it is fixed...thank you for your time and efforts.....Mike

Answer
That is very good to hear that it is working.  This sounds to me as if the system needed to relearn the tachometer and starting with the key and pressing the button achieved this.  Whatever the case may be, I am glad to hear that it is operating normally.
