-----Question-----
I have a 1997 Honda Civic.  I have a question about my car alarm. My alarm model is VIPER and when I lock my car the lights flash but the horn doesn't honk to tell me that it's locked. But if I push the alarm button, the alarm does go off.
Can I fix this without going to the dealer?

Answer
This sounds like the system is in valet mode.  With most DEI systems you can put the system in and out of valet mode in two ways.

1.  Push lock, unlock, lock on the transmitter in sequence
2.  Turn the ignition key to the run position and press the valet/program button

The system will indicate it is in valet mode by illuminating the LED solid.
