Car Alarms: Auto Alarm Shut Down, sure what version, auto alarm

Question
I pressed the button to remotely start my car this morning to warm it up and the car started and ran for about seven minutes and shut down.  Later I used my remote to open the doors (made sound of 2 chirps) and opened my doors.  I had them slightly ajar and did not close them completely as I went back for something.  I think I heard the horn make one sound as I was going back to the car.  The back door was locked even though it was slightly ajar.  When I pressed on the remote to open it the remote made a beeping sound but the car alarm itself did not respond.  Also the car alarm light was not on.  I had to use my car keys to open the door.  When I arrived at my destination my remote would not lock the doors and the car alarm would not activate.  The red light for the car alarm was not on.  I tried pressing on the button under the dash when the car was on but nothing happened.  I locked my doors using my keys.  When I came back to my car later the auto alarm still seems dead.  I am not sure what version I have - It has four buttons with a little plastic atenae on the left and my remote is supposed to beep if the the auto alarm goes off.

Answer
This is a tough one without actually looking at the unit in person. I am going to say that you either have a shorted wire or the brain actually died. You will need someone to look at the unit to determine what is going on here and possibly trace the power and ground to see if you do have a short.
