Car Alarms: 02 Ford F150 Factory Alarm Problem, alarmtek, ford service

Question
it is a factory alarm, and when you go to hit the unlock button, it sounds like the engine is trying to do something and then the word THEFT in red begins to blink in the dash, and all the interior lights and the light on the top of the cab that comes on when the interior lights are on all flash/pulse constantly until you put the key into the ignition, but the truck won't start and the sequence begins again minus the engine sound when you take the key back out.

-----Question-----
the red switch that can manually be depressed to stop the alarm from automatically setting has been broken for some time.  never caused any problems, alarm just automatically set.  now the battery is dead, but when you set the alarm or unset it with the remote all interior lights pulse until you unset it.  how can i either fix problem or just disconnect the alarm.  HELP!!
-----Answer-----
Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

Answer
Ok, need to get that button repaired now.
Ford is the only way to get this system
to reset now. You can permanantly take out the
factory alarm for good, but it may
impact on other devices in the truck.
Not the best way to go.

No, best bet is to have Ford service
this system for you and repair the button.

Sorry, wish the news was better.

Good luck.
