Car Alarms: 94 toyota 4Runner car alarm problem, toyota 4runner, switch alarm

Question
I drive a used 94 4Runner. Years ago I had lost the alarm remote. Since then, I have just been using my car key to lock and unlock my car, and dealt with kill switch alarm problems from time to time.
I had recently replaced my old battery with a new one. This set off the alarm, so I could not disarm nor start my car. The alarm horn is disconnected, so the alarm is silent. I only hear the clicking sounds and see my lights flash. I had tried the standard disarming method, which was putting the key into the ignition and flipping the switch and making sure the key in the black alarm box stays horizontal. Maybe I am missing a step. There was a couple times when i was successful and I was able to start my car. But hours later, I would open the door and the alarm would go off again. I had to disconnect the battery so that the alarm wouldn't be going off at night and eventually kill my new battery. Please help me solve this problem.

Answer
If you can find the brain of the alarm itself I may be able to locate a manual for you.  You may just be able to pick up a new remote and program it to the system.

Temporarily however, you could pull the fuses supplying the alarm brain and disable the alarm.  Pop off the dash panel under the steering column and you should see where the wires were tapped into your factory ignition harness.  Following these wires back should reveal the fuses as well as the alarm brain which should have the model number listed on it.
