Car Alarms: 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alarm System, jeep grand cherokee, jeep shop

Question
The alarm system is from my knowledge factory installed...  looking on the wesite which you linked the remote entry button is not the same as shown for year/make/model.  The remote entry has a chrysler symbol on it Product:  362-1362 found for Grand Cherokee 1996-1997 and that is the one I have.  If you have anything to add that would help I would appreciate it.

-----Question-----
Recently the car alarm arms itself after only a few seconds if the doors are closed.  I would rather this not happen and am not sure how this feature became enabled.  I would rather, by using the keyless entry remote, arm and disarm the alarm.  If you have any insight as to how this feature can be turned on/off it would be a great help.  Also I no longer have the car's owner manual for a reference.
-----Answer-----
Yours is an aftermarket system and yes,
you will need the installation manual to
see how yours would toggle between passive
and active arming modes.

If you have the remotes, try to identify
the alarm at www.remtesunlimited.com ,
and then go to the manufacturers site for info
on how to perform the setting changes.

Sorry but all alarms are not the same.
They all have a feature setiings
procedure unique to they're own designer.

Good hunting.

Answer
Trouble there is that they don't make
an OEM (FACTORY) alarm that would
lock and arm once the doors are closed
on it's own.

Only aftermarket does that. All factory
systems are set up to be armed/locked
ONLY when the button is pressed.

I would take it up to the local Jeep shop
for any veriable I may have missed here,
but I think it's aftermarket. If it is,
then it's probably an audiovox or, code alarm.

Either way, you might want to still go
to Jeep for more imput on this system.

I hope this helped.
