Car Alarms: Alarm error, dash area, security light

Question
It is the Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a SECURITY light in the dash flashing?
(note: i did not pay attention to see if the security light was flashing i was a little upset at the time.)
I bought the truck new From a dealer in 2005.
I want to thank you for your quick Response.

Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

Answer
Hmmmm, the 05' Dakota's factory alarm arms
when you remotely lock the doors, and disarms upon
unlock with the remote only. It is possible
by "over pressing" the remotes, you put
it into a sort of panic mode.

Best to be specific when using the factory remote.
from house, press unlock 1 time.
get in, close door and lock.
start car.

then when done, turn off ignition,
get out close and remotely lock the door.

That should be that. If you attempt to
only use the key to get in, the alarm would
trigger at this point. if there is a panic
button on the remote, and the alarm is sounding,
press the panic again and it should stop.

However, if all this is tried and failed,
you are under waranty at Dodge for this,
and it's always best to
deal with the service dealership on OEM
(original manufacturers equipment)
then an outside shop.

Let me know how it goes.
