Car Alarms: Advice on car alarms, microwave sensor, omega products

Question
I have a basic, no frills, 1995 Ford Taurus.  In the past year my car has been broken into twice, I locked my doors both times but, someone in my neighborhood has an extra skill with screwdrivers.  I was wondering if you can advise me on an effective car alarm for such an old car.  Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Answer
Well any brand name car alarm will work for you. You will want something for door protection, trunk and hood protection along with a shock sensor. This would be rather easy to install on your car and would be rather effective if you can do it without anyone knowing. The shock sensor would set off the alarm if the thief tried hitting the window or bumping the door locks. You can also add in a microwave sensor that would set off a warning if someone gets to close to the car for a period of time or a full alarm also if the manage to get in. one thing I would look for a model with a backup battery incase they are smart enough and quick enough to cut the battery cable. I like and use Omega products as they work great last forever and are rather simple to install They start in prices ranging from 45.00 up to 135.00 If you have much skill in this and want you can add a unit with remote start and give yourself a little convenience also. Does your car already have electric locks? These units will give you keyless entry feature also. If you want e-mail me I can forward you a couple units I sell and use at a very good price or if you find a unit and want my opinion. denny@bargersaudio.com
