Car Alarms: 1997 Cadillac STS Alarm, cadillac sts, dash area

Question
The lights flash and the horn honks for 30 seconds. It is factory I am sorry.

Right now i have the horn fuse unplugged so the people next door dont have a cow at 4 am.

I found a few places for my key chains just looking for better places. key chain gm 16259819. dont care if the alarm works or not. I am trading it in within a year but i would like to just temp disable if possible

I bought my car used and the remote does not work. Up until today the when i unlocked the door with the key the alarm was deactivated. No when i unlock it with the key and open the door, the alarm goes off. Is there a way to fix this or disable it? I am going to order new remotes i found online, but I just need this fixed for now.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

I have a problem with the model and year because
I show no STS for 1997?

Either way though, the factory alarm needs to be reset,
and GM is going to have to do it. They will put it on a diagnostic,
find the trouble, and correct it faster then
anyone else can, so I thing a service call is in order.

Sorry, but when it's a GM issue, GM has to handle it
since they have the diagnostic tools to do it correctly.
