Car Alarms: Immobiliser problem on a Blazer. HELP!!!!, chevrolet blazer, gm dealer

Question
Hi guys,
I have a real problem. I bought 4 weeks ago a Chevrolet Blazer SL 1998. It came with one remote control and 1 key. No problem with it till 6 days ago. It ran out of battery and I  needed a Jeep + booster to start it up, (the battery was totally flat). No problem with the battery since, however, the remote control went weaker and weaker, but was still working. The SUV is equipped from factory with a fuel cutting immobiliser. I normally need to press the opening doors button on the remote control to start the engine, otherwise it will start and shut off after a couple of seconds. 2 days ago the remote control would not open or close the doors anymore, totally dead. I change the battery of remote control, still nothing. I bought the programming method from www.keylessride.com for my remote control today after reading your site, tried it, nothing. Before that I checked fuses, took battery of car on and off... Nothing. The car starts and stops after 2 seconds. Chevrolet shop is very far from where I am, and I find so stupid my car is blocked 2 km from home!!! Can you help? Do you think that my remote control is just broken is it more serious?

Answer
Turn key forward, leave it in the run position for 10 minutes without attempting to start the vehicle.  This relearns the passlock system.  The problems described are typical of passlock problems, not factory alarm problems.  If the key forward for 10 minutes does not fix the problem I would think the vehicle needs to go back to a GM dealer.

adendum:

It is not your alarm/remote control.  The security light in the instrument
cluster has nothing to do with the remote control.  If putting your key in
the run position for 10 minutes does not fix your problem there is something
else wrong with the vehicle.  Leaving the key in the vehicle in the off
position will do nothing as the resistance module in the key cylinder is not
engaged, it is not engaged until the key is in the run position.
