Car Alarms: 2004 Hyundai Elantra: alarm for no reason, 2004 hyundai elantra, hyundai elantra

Question
Hi! I just recently purchased a used 2004 Hyundai Elantra.  When parked, the horn will frequently honk once and the lights will flash, for no apparent reason.  I'm not sure if it's an over-sensitive alarm, bad wiring, or something completely different. I believe the alarm system is factory installed, but I'm not positive. I'm not real knowledgeable about cars, needless to say alarm systems, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Answer
Well, according to the notes on this vehicle, it
does have a factory alarm, that works with the
factory remotes ONLY. If you were not given remotes,
you will need to go to Hyundai and get new ones
so you can contol it's functions.

From the sounds of it, it is reporting a breach
periodically, waiting to be achknowledged, and reset.

If you do already have the remotes, then you need
to visit Hyundai for a diagnostic of this situation
as it may be malfunctioning.

Either way it appears a visit to your local
dealership would be advised.

Good luck with it.
Let me know what you discover.

ALARMTEK.
