Car Alarms: keyless entry system, 12 volt relays, keyless entry system

Question
I bought an aftermarket generation keyless entry system. I have a 1990 f 150. The door lock switches have 5 wires on them, and by testing I beleive it to be a reverse polarity system. When I connected the unit by the diagram, the doors would lock and unlock using the switches, and the parking lights would flash when I used the remote, but the doors would not lock or unlock by use or remote. The module make sounds when I tried the remote, so it was getting and sending the signal. One of the wires to the door actuater was blowing a fuse, and I don't know how to wire it to work. I emailed the manufactuer, and called also, and have not recieved a reply. Any help you can provide would be great.

Thanks,

George

Answer
You will need 2 12 volt relays, on 1 relay pin 86 and 87 will need 12 volt power pin 85 will go to the lock wire on your unit, you will need to cut the lock wire on the vehicle which will be black/orange or pink/yellow then pin 87a will go to the switch side of cut wire and pin 30 will go to the other side of cut wire. Now the other relay will need power to pins 86 and 87 also, pin 85 to the units unlock wire, cut the unlock wire pink/green on the vehicle pin 87a will go to switch side of cut wire and pin 30 will go to the other side of cut wire. All should work for you now.
