Car Alarms: 2000 Maxima Factory Alarm, stock factory, dash area

Question
It is the stock factory alarm for a 2000 Maxima SE. With the key off the Security led is flashing. When it is armed either by remote or by drivers side door lock button the Security led goes solid for about 20 seconds. It then returns to flashing. After 10 minutes the horn starts sounding.

-----Question-----
The alarm on my 2000 Maxima SE has started going off 10 minutes after it is armed. The security led flashes as it should and then goes steady for about 20 seconds when the system is armed. It then goes back to flashing.
-----Answer-----
Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Many veriables on this vehicle &
I Require a bit more imput please.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

Answer
In most Nissan's, you would put the key in
the drivers door, turn left, (disarms the OEM
system) then right to unlock,
and this resets the alarm each time.

However, if this is not working out that way,
you can disable it for good.

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM wire is orange/blue |-|
pin 30 at SECU. The SECU (Smart Entrance Control Unit)
is located to the passengers side of the steering
column.

To permanantly bypass this alarm, splice
into this wire, then put to a solid
chassis ground. This terminates the factory
alarm functions and would then leave the vehicle
defenseless so if opting for this solution,
Have an aftermarket system ready to back it up.

I hope this helps your situation out some.

Good luck.
