Car Alarms: car alarm and remote lock/unlock no longer working, chula vista ca, fcc id

Question
I have my Accord 99 LX originally equipped with alarm system (StarGard) and 2 remoters (FCC ID: ezsde1476), and the alarm has been working very well until this morning. What happened was that I had a Firestone shop install 2 new tires on my vehicle this morning, and when I picked up my car, the car door was kept ajar, and I was told by the mechanics that the car alarm went off during the work, and they can't stop it using the remoter so they had to somehow disable it and keep the door open. But by that time, the remote control can no longer lock or unlock. I tried by myself and somehow set off the alarm and couldn't stop it. I later took my car to the deal who sold me the car and the alarm system, but they said it was a discontinued product and they no longer support it.

What I want to ask are:
1. First, what might have went wrong? Is there a quick way to fix it? I did tried your answer to previous posts (Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid), but the problem was that before it was already solid, and when I put in key, it turns off and doesn't come back solid, and when I pull out the key, it turns back onto solid. I don't know what the heck is going on.

2. Should the mechnics be liable for the alarm problem and share at least part of the cost to repair?

3. How much you think the repair will cost? I did stop by a car audio shop, and the guy told me to come back tomorrow since they are booked out today. It is going to be $20 for the checkout, and repair will be extra. The name of that audio shop is below. Do you recommend?
(Audio Car Auto Security
Address: 915 Broadway
Chula Vista, CA 91911
Phone: (619) 422-1449
Fax: (619) 422-1689 )

4. Finanlly, how much would it cost to put in a brand new alarm system if the current one is beyond repair?

thanks and waiting for your answer.

Answer
The mechanics caused the malfunction in my mind,
Yes, take it back to them to repair it.
If not, then I suggest you remove it since
it no longer is supported or warrantied, and
can become a nightmare if not attended to.

The system is now a liability. You can search
around for someone to point fingers at, to blame,
but if asking my opinion, it's spilt milk,
just cut to the chase here. It's YOUR car
we're talking about. Got time to 'D' around with
the Firestone guys? That's a waste of time and
energy in my book. They are clueless when it comes
to car alarm repair. On the upside...

Security systems, new ones, are not that expensive
to replace yourself, just need the knowledge.
Or, go to the local Ausidio shop in Chula Vista
and get it all redone right.

The best solution would be to take it to this place on Broadway, and have them pull the old one, redo the wiring
and put in they're warrantied system. Then get them to
really teach you about the functions, features, and
habits the system you are working
with offers. No surprises for you, makes
for a better security/convenience experience.

At this point you cut your loses,
and start fresh with one you understand from the
beginning.

I hope this helps.
